Lower Hookner Barn

Whether you are looking for a relaxing break, or a base to explore the surrounding countryside, come and stay in this ancient barn at the very
end of a single track road deep in the heart of Dartmoor National Park.

Visit the fields at the rear of the barn where we keep a small flock of
Exmoor Horn sheep. Lambing usually takes place in early Spring. Our happy hens are
all free range and we welcome children - and adults should they wish, to help collect eggs for breakfast. Tea and home made cake are ready for your arrival,
either served in the sunny garden or by the roaring fire.

Two famous footpaths, the Two Moors Way and the Mariner’s Way, pass
close by offering access to the open moorland and the surrounding Dartmoor
villages. Enjoy a hearty pub lunch in one of our local Inns maybe ?

The guest sitting room is very relaxing with a wood burning stove,
comfy sofas, books, games, television and music.
There are tea and coffee making facilities in each bedroom.
Jenny is an excellent cook and she uses local and organic produce
whenever she can. She is happy to prepare packed lunches, simple
suppers or high tea if you arrange in advance. We are not licensed
but do bring your own wine if you wish.
Come and see the stars at night. No light pollution !

From the Visitors Book ...
“We just simply loved to be there” Szentendre, Hungary.
"We had a long vacation in England in July and we stayed for 3 nights.
Well, my children were fool about Lower Hookner Barn, and it was just simply
lovely and peaceful to see the sheeps and cows in front of our windows.
Also the house is very friendly how it looks, Jenny and John were so keen to look after our wishing, so we just simply loved to be there! I do recommend it to my friends. If you want to relax, do not hesitate to go there! " Daniel Orban.
